Women’s Health Physiotherapy relates to the management and treatment of conditions specifically affecting women through their life stages – from early adulthood, through the childbearing years, post menopause and into older age.  Our Physio Emmi has undergone specific training in returning to exercise pre and post partum and can help with the following:

Incontinence

  • Urinary stress incontinence
  • Overactive bladder
  • Faecal and flatal incontinence
  • Nocturia
  • Urgency symptoms and urge incontinence

Pelvic Floor Discomfort

  • Dyspareunia and pelvic pain
  • Pelvic organ Prolapse
  • Prevention and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction

Pregnancy Services

  • Lower back pain, postural and thoracic pain
  • Pubic symphysis
  • Sacroiliac joint and pelvic girdle instability
  • Core stability programmes
  • Preparation for labour

Postnatal Services

  • Pelvic girdle pain and instability
  • Lower back, thoracic and neck pain
  • Recovery of perineal tears and episiotomies
  • Diastasis rectus abdominus muscle separation (DRAM)
  • Treatment of blocked ducts

Pre and Post Operative Physiotherapy

  • Exercise advice for well postmenopausal women and women with osteoporosis
  • Pelvic floor programmes and advice pre and post gynaecological and gynecological surgery (e.g. POP repair, hysterectomy)
