Kurt Drinkwater

Physiotherapist

Kurt is a passionate physiotherapist who is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of every client that he comes into contact with through education, empowerment, and the application of the most up-to-date, research based physiotherapy interventions. He is a member of Sports Physiotherapy Australia, and also works part-time as the head physiotherapist of Bond University’s mens AFL team. Here is a short biography in his own words:

I was born in the North of England and moved to California when I was 5 years old. I grew up in the Eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area and spent most of my time outdoors playing sports. I played American football and rugby union at a highly competitive level which sparked my passion for strength & conditioning, exercise prescription, and injury rehabilitation. I completed my bachelor of science in Kinesiology at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo, California in 2014, and then moved to the Gold Coast to pursue a post-graduate doctor of physiotherapy degree at Bond University which I completed in 2019. I was drawn to the profession by the satisfaction that I get from helping others to overcome their physical limitations in order to achieve their goals and develop a sense of independence. When I’m not in the clinic or on the sideline of a sports field with a bumbag, you’ll most likely find me traveling to a new corner of the globe, live streaming American sports in the middle of the night, training in the gym, cooking up a new recipe in the kitchen, or soaking up the Australian sun with my girlfriend and our sausage dog, Pablo.

Special interest areas: Return to sport rehabilitation for athletes, lower limb injuries (ankles, knees, and hips), pre and post-orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation, and neck injuries.

Fun fact: I’ve traveled to 30 countries and counting.
